A castle built in 1240 by the Roman Emperor Frederick II, who came from the kingdom of Swabia in southern Germany. A stronghold was built to defend the port of Augustus, which occupies a strategic position on the eastern coast of Sicily, between Catania and Syracuse. The castle is closed to visitors, it can be admired from the outside.
