The Church of the Condemnation stands where, according to the Gospel, a cross was placed on Jesus' arms. It is a small building on a central plan with a dome, in whose windows figures of angels with tools of the Passion were placed. The interior is finished in stone, with Corinthian marble columns.
The church stands in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem on the famous Via Dolorosa. On its wall there is the second of the Way of the Cross stations. It is looked after by Franciscans living in a nearby monastery. The temple was built in 1904 on the site of a medieval church. Part of the floor is stone slabs from the Antonia Fortress, where Christ was scourged. The church is topped with a dome with a lantern. Stained glass windows depicting Pilate's court. Above the altar there is a painting depicting the placing of the cross on Christ's arms.
