The monument commemorating the leader of the Hungarian national uprising from 1848-1849 was designed by Janos Horvay. The monument, unveiled in 1927, was dismantled after World War II by order of the communist authorities and replaced in 1952 by the sculpture of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobel. In the 21st century, Horvay's work was restored.
