White Tower of Thessaloniki
Local name: Λευκός Πύργος της Θεσσαλονίκης
The White Tower is a symbol of Thessaloniki. It stands on the coast, in the vicinity of the Alexander the Great Park. It was built in the 16th century by order of Sultan Suleiman. Initially, it was part of Thessaloniki's fortifications, and later a prison was established. Currently there is an exhibition dedicated to the history of the city. At the top, in the smaller added tower there is a viewpoint.
