Local name: Αψίδα του Γαλερίου
The triumphal arch in the center of Thessaloniki erected by order of the emperor Galerius in the 4th century AD The arch was to remind of the victory over the Persians in 298 AD. Only three pillars out of the original eight survived to this day. Their lower parts are covered with reliefs depicting the battle with the Persians.
