Preveli Monastery

Currently abandoned monastery in the Preveli gorge. Above is the renovated part inhabited by monks. The monastery was founded in the 16th century and was an important stronghold of Greek culture during the Turkish occupation. The monastery buildings are partly destroyed. In the center of the area stands a small church.
