Monastery of Odigitria Gonia

Built in the 13th century, the monastery stands in place of an earlier one, probably from the 9th century. It gained its current defensive shape during Venetian rule. At its heart is a church in the shape of a crucifix with a dome and an arcaded vestibule. Precious sixteenth and seventeenth century icons are stored in the monastery.
