Built in the 5th century BC, the temple of the god Hephaestus and Athena. It stood at the foot of Athens and is today the best preserved ancient buildings in the city. It owes its condition to the fact that in the Byzantine period it was converted into a church. It is a stone building on a rectangular plan, surrounded by a colonnade with a tympanum above the entrance.
