An artificial ruin stands on the remains of the old royal palace Biburc. At the beginning of the 19th century, Prince Friedrich August von Nassau commissioned Carl Florian Goetz to build a neo-Gothic residential castle. Artificial ruins were completed in 1805-1806 and were to embody the romantic idea of the Middle Ages.
