The Classicist edifice, the most important Protestant church of Potsdam, was built in 1837-1850 according to the design of Karl-Friedrich Schinkel. At a height of 42 m there is a viewing platform offering a panorama of the Havel River valley. In addition to services, the temple also serves as an exhibition space and concert hall.
