Bürgersaal was built in the years 1709-1710 according to the design of Giovanni Antonio Viscardi - a baroque precursor from Switzerland. There is a monument and the grave of Rupert Mayer (1876-1945), a German Jesuit, the main figure of the Catholic anti-Nazi movement in Munich.

The baroque temple was seriously damaged during bombing at the end of World War II - only the facade and part of the walls survived. It was rebuilt as one of the first in Munich at the turn of 1945 and 1946. sculptural composition "Annunciation" in the main altar, chiselled by Andreas Faistenberger - a long-lived and very prolific artist whose works form the canon of baroque sculpture in Munich and Bavaria.

Rupert Mayer was sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp for expressing his views. In 1987, he was included in the group of beatified by Pope John Paul II.
