Cathedral Museum
Local name: Dommuseum
The Cathedral Museum is part of the buildings that make up the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Divine Brand. The museum's collections mainly present works creating the cathedral treasury, some of which still fulfill their original function in major religious events.
The oldest exhibits included in the museum collection come from the beginnings of the cathedral itself, i.e. around the 10th century. These include, among others, the 9th-century silver reliquary of Mary and items related to the artistic activity of Saint Bernard, presenting Ottonian art. These include the Golden Madonna, evangelists, the Bible from the 11th century, a silver procession cross and the Sacramentary of the monk Rattman.
Another generous donor of the museum was Saint Godehyrd, who donated to the collection, among others, a gilded reliquary with carvings of the apostles and Mary and the Child. The exhibition also presents Romanesque art. A cameraized processional cross decorated with relics from the 12th century or a reliquary of Saint Oswald is only part of this collection. The museum also presents a rich collection of mass chalices.
