The Labor Museum presents the effects of industrialization and the resulting changes in the social, economic and cultural area over the past 150 years. The museum is on the list of objects belonging to the European Industrial Heritage Trail.
The first part of the exhibition concerns life in the industrial age. Visitors can see documents, medals and decorations of the Metal Factory employees as well as items related to the development of Hanseatic trade at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The next part of the exhibition presents work products - clothing, tools, machines and written memories and photographs in the context of showing various aspects of work history in Hamburg. Guests also have the opportunity to hear about 20 employee life stories.
Further in the exhibition there is a printing workshop with historic press and machines.
The building in which the museum is located is an old factory from 1871.
