This is one of the oldest promenades in Hamburg, which was designed on the model of an arcade, Italian style. There are numerous restaurants and cafes, luxury shops, the National Opera building and Hotel Colonnaden with architecture characteristic for this area.
Most of the buildings in this area are maintained in a neo-Renaissance climate. The Hotel Colonnaden impresses with Wilhelminian architecture and white neo-Renaissance facades, and every visitor will find something for themselves. Among the many luxury stores is a stationery store from 1908 offering high-quality feathers, a wine cellar displaying good-quality Franconian wines, and a store with smokers' products that has exclusive cigars on the market since 1880.
