The market square is the main city square of Cottbus. It was marked out in the Middle Ages. It is a square with an elongated, irregular quadrangle plan. It is surrounded by tenements in the style of Saxon Baroque and Classicism. In the middle of the Market is a fountain built in 1991 according to plans from the 18th century.
