New National Gallery

Local name: Neue Nationalgalerie

The Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin is a museum and gallery dedicated to modern art, represented by the most recognizable 20th-century European and American artists. The gallery has the works of such artists as Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Max Ernsta, Salvador Dalí, Francis Bacon, Werner Tübke, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol.

Built in 1968, the Neue Nationalgalerie building was the last work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) - an outstanding representative of the current called international modernism, which was characterized by extreme minimalism and functionalism. The Neue Nationalgalerie is the most complete implementation of the idea of universal space, which van der Rohe has developed throughout his life.

In 2015-2019, during the renovation of the van der Rohe building, the Neue Nationalgalerie exhibitions take place at the Neue Galerie in Hamburger Bahnhof.
