The garden of the Glienicke Palace is maintained in the Italian style and is located in the courtyard between the wings of the castle. The garden is part of a group of palaces and park complexes in Potsdam and Berlin, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990. Rich floral compositions composed of potted plants and exotic species, ancient sculptures and fountains please the eyes of visitors.
On both sides of the garden there are statues of the god Mercury. One of them is an antique sculpture made in bronze, while the other is a marble, French figure from the 18th century. The presence of these statues is not accidental, because this ancient god of trade and commerce, as well as thieves and customs officers is considered the patron of Glienicke.
