The 12th-century fortress, one of the so-called Qatar castles - a cluster of followers of a doctrine recognized as heresy and fought by Rome. In 1210, Raymond de Termes defended himself here for four months against the Crusaders. In the 17th century, the castle lost its defensive importance and became the seat of bandits. In order to prevent robberies, the building was blown up by order of the king.
