The modern building of the Paris Philharmonic combines various places dedicated to music. It consists of concert halls, exhibition spaces, rehearsal rooms. There are also educational rooms, restaurants and bars. The concert hall can seat 2400 spectators. Mainly symphony and jazz music concerts are held here.
In 2007, Jean Nouvel won the competition for the design of the auditorium. The Paris Philharmonic was opened on January 14, 2015 by French President Francois Hollande with the Requiem Faure performed by the Paris orchestra. However, the ceremony was boycotted by the architect in connection with the terrorist attacks that took place in France at the time
The Paris Philharmonic is decorated with aluminum panels that swirl around the structure and contrast with the rest of the matt external surface. Outside there are images of birds in dark and light colors. The roof with a view point at a height of 37 m is open to visitors.
