The Church of Saint Ephrem the Syrian is located in the Latin Quarter. It is a small, eighteenth-century temple built in the classical style. It is used by the Syrian church community. The church has excellent acoustics and is a regular venue for classical and choral music concerts.
The church was built in 1733. It has a facade in the form of an arch with columns. The rectangular interior with stone walls is decorated with arches supported by pilasters. In the presbytery there are polychromes showing scenes from the life of Saint Ephrem. Currently, they are partially covered by a wooden iconostasis, which was inserted here due to the use of the temple by the Syrian church.
Due to the excellent acoustics, classical music concerts are held regularly in the church. Both vocal and piano pieces sound great here. There are also performances of small groups of classical and early music.
