The Gallier Museum, also known as the Fashion Museum, is housed in a Renaissance palace referring to the Italian buildings of this period. His collection includes clothing and fashion accessories presenting the history of fashion from the eighteenth century to modern times. Currently, the Museum organizes only temporary exhibitions, mainly monographic ones devoted to specific designers and their works.
Gallier Palace became a museum building at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, steel and iron construction elements appeared in his body, designed, among others, in the studio of Eiffel, the creator of the symbol of the French capital. Initially, it housed an industrial collection. In 1977, the Fashion Museum was established. His huge collections are unfortunately currently only shown in fragments at temporary exhibitions.
Efforts are currently underway to create a permanent exhibition on fashion history at the Museum. Together with the Fashion House Chanel, a monographic permanent exhibition is being prepared, devoted to the work of the most famous designer in the world. The opening of new exhibitions is planned for 2019.
