Biblioteque Nationale de France- Site Francois Mitterand is the new building of the French National Library. Put into service in 1996, it was built of concrete, glass and metal. It consists of four towers with a collection of books and a surrounding pedestal with reading rooms.
The new building of the National Library was completed during the rule of Francois Mitterand. Hence its name. It was designed by Dominique Perrault. It is a rectangular plan building. In its corners there are 79-meter-long glazed buildings in which the book collection has been collected. The total length of shelves placed in them is almost 400 km. A concrete plinth circulates the entire building. There are scientific and thematic reading rooms as well as reading rooms and rooms for playing multimedia collections.
