Oz is an alpine town with less than 150 inhabitants, and becomes a thriving ski resort in the high season. There are over 60 km of ski slopes in the area, and the stations of the Alpe d'Huez region located a little further away provide another several dozen kilometers of slopes.
The buildings in Oz are traditional. Mountain huts built partly of wood dominate here. The pensions and hotels also have a typical alpine look. You can also stay in apartments and traditional mountain huts. Cars are forbidden in the whole village and you can only go on foot.
The Oz-en-Oisans ski resort, Oz's greatest attraction, has several dozen kilometers of ski slopes of various difficulty levels. A large part of them are easy routes that families with children choose to learn to drive. There is also a snow park, and the apres-ski offer includes restaurants, bars, spas, excursions to the area and sports activities.
Gondola Alpette, which belongs to the resort, serves skiers in winter and tourists who want to hike up the slopes in summer. The area around Oz is picturesque and perfect for longer and shorter hikes. There are mountain lakes Carrelet and Varney, the Fare waterfall and the beautiful Combe stream with small cascades.
