The area measuring 312 by 200 m enjoys the title of the largest in Europe, the so-called a bright square, i.e. devoid of any greenery or unpaved soil (even in the form of a single lawn). At its central point stands the work of François-Frédéric Lemot - a horse statue of Louis XIV from 1825.
