Ofelia Square
Local name: Ofelia Plads
A modern square and public space were arranged on the Kvæsthus pier in 2016. It is 450 meters long and is covered with dark concrete slabs arranged so that at the end of the pier they disappear under the water. On both sides there are stairs and platforms that allow direct access to the water.
There are pavilions and cafes in the square. Various cultural events are held here regularly, including open-air theater and opera performances and concerts. During important sports events, large screens are mounted here, on which you can watch their broadcasts. There is a large underground car park with spaces for 500 cars under the pier.
The pier, on which the square was created, originally served as a harbor for steam ferries. It was named after the naval hospital built on this site in the second half of the 17th century.
