Castle Točník

Local name: Hrad Točník

Točník medieval fortified castle is today the main tourist attraction of the small village of the same name. The fully restored stronghold is open to the public - the royal chambers with the Great Hall were turned into a museum, and the square tower serves as a viewpoint.

The stronghold was built in the second half of the fourteenth century on the initiative of the then Czech king Wenceslaus IV as a hunting and residential building. It was built shortly after the fire, which almost completely destroyed the nearby beggar castle (only the cylindrical tower has survived to this day).

Despite several Renaissance adaptations from the 16th century, the characteristic architectural features of the Middle Ages remained intact. During the Thirty Years' War, the stronghold was partially destroyed, and its owners decided to leave the castle permanently. It was restored only in the 20th century.
