The building, also known as the Chotkov Gate or the New Gate, was built in 1841-1842 to replace the medieval Jerusalem Gate. The road leading through the gate leads to the Visegrad casemates. Currently, the building is one of the best preserved, most valuable examples of the Empire style in Prague.
