Central train station in Prague. The building was opened in the second half. Josef Fanta's expansion and conversion in Art Noveau style was made in the first half of the nineteenth century by Franciszek Józef I. There are cafes in the old Art Nouveau halls, while the railway is in the underground terminal. In the upper storey, visitors can admire the towering domes, the stained glass windows or the carved faces of women representing Prague.
The train station changed its name several times, which largely depended on the current political situation. On the map you can see the signs 'Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Bahnhof', 'Praha Wilsonovo nádraží' and 'Nádraží prezidenta wilson'.
The entrance to the station was originally decorated with a statue of Emperor Franz Joseph I, who after the founding of Czechoslovakia gave way to the statue of US President Woodrow Wilson. This statue was destroyed after the Czech occupation by the German army.
