Pumphouse of Francis
Local name: Františkův pramen
The Franciszek Pump Room is a small, round pavilion, which is a symbol of the Františkovy Lázně spa. It was built in 1832 and houses the oldest sources discovered here.
The first mention of the Source Francis dates from around 1400. It got its name during the time of the Austrian Emperor Franz I Habsburg, who was a great supporter of spa activities. A wooden pavilion was built over the source in the 18th century. In 1832 it was replaced by a neoclassical brick building. It is a round pavilion covered with a dome. It has glass walls divided by columns. Inside, in a stone-clad, stone bowl, there is a spring that gave rise to the spa.
