City Museum
Local name: Městské muzeum
The city museum in the Františkovy Lázně spa has been operating since 1912. Currently, it focuses primarily on bringing visitors closer to the history of the city and the history of using the local mineral springs. The exhibits include photos, engravings, a tool used in sanatoriums, as well as a large collection of paintings.
The museum is housed in a neo-Baroque building, most likely designed by Gustaw Wiedermann, one of the main architects working on the construction of the spa. Initially, it made available primarily art collections. Currently, it is still an important element of the exhibition.
The museum has in its collection numerous items related to the spa past of Františkovy Lázně. The profiles of the most important patients are presented, as well as photos of spa objects that no longer exist. There were also water bottles, mugs used in pump rooms, pharmacy equipment, as well as the original sculpture from 1923 depicting Francis, a little boy sitting on a ball. A copy of it is currently standing in the spa park, and the figure is a symbol of the resort.
