The old town hall is the oldest secular building in the city. Built in 1240 in the Gothic style, it was rebuilt several times in the following centuries. There is a vantage point on the 63-meter clock tower. The interiors house an art gallery, a small exhibition on the city's history and a tourist information point.
The town hall currently consists of several parts built at different times. The oldest are from the 13th century. Over time, the gothic, rectangular building gained more annexes. The most characteristic part of the town hall is the square tower with a wooden terrace covered with a spherical baroque helmet.
The town hall was the seat of the city authorities until 1935. Then it was intended for cultural purposes. At the exhibition you can see city documents, a model of Brno and learn about the next stages of the town hall expansion. There are also rooms for temporary exhibitions.
