Zagreb Zoo (Zoološki vrt grada Zagreba) is the oldest zoo in Southeastern Europe. About 270 animal species from around the world live here, among them are: lemurs, meerkats, lynxes and European tigers. The garden participates in several European nature conservation programs.
It is a place recommended for bird lovers, animals live here in comfortable conditions, a vast space has been created for them in the open air, in which they can move freely, there are bird watching stations for visitors.
It is one of three zoos in Croatia, its area covers 7 hectares. The plan to create a zoo was created at the beginning of the 20th century, its implementation was financed by engineer Mijo Filipović. On the opening day, only three foxes and two owls lived in the zoo.
