The National Museum of Contemporary Art (Moderna galerija) in Zagreb is located in the historic Vranyczany Palace, it is one of the most important cultural institutions in the country. A substantial and valuable collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures of Croatian artists from the 19th and 20th centuries was collected here.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the work of the precursor of modern Croatian painting Vjekoslav Karas, sculptor Ivan Meštrović, impressionist painter Josip Račić and one of the most important Croatian graphic artists Ljubomir Tito Stjepan Babić.
The museum currently has more than 10,000 exhibits (700 in permanent exhibition), but the collection is constantly growing. Special exhibitions are also organized here, the museum publishes monographs of famous artists and albums. An interesting collection can also be seen in the branch of the museum, i.e. in the Studio of Josip Račić.
