The Croatian Museum of Natural History (Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej) in Zagreb is the largest institution of this type in the country. There are over 2 million geological and paleontological exhibits, including minerals and fossils, as well as over a million specimens of animals from around the world. You can also see the remains of a Neanderthal from Krapina.
Interesting for visitors is a fragment of the skull of a cave lion - the largest predator of the felidae family living on earth to date. Cave lions lived during the Pleistocene, extinct about 10,000 years ago.
The museum has a library with an extremely rich collection of books available to visitors. A magazine entitled "Natura Croatica" is a valuable source of knowledge about new discoveries in the field of natural history.
