The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Velika Gorica is distinguished by a light yellow façade. Above the main entrance there is the coat of arms of the city, and above it a sculpture depicting St. Łucja, patron of the Turopolje region. In the interior of the church, intricate and very rich decorations catch the eye.
The history of the church dates back to the fourteenth century, when the first wooden temple was built here. Over time, subsequent parts of the building were gradually rebuilt using stone. In the mid-eighteenth century, the Baroque style reconstruction was added, during which the chapels of the Sacred Heart and Saint were added to the church. Antoni of Padua.
In 1880 the church was completely destroyed in an earthquake. It was reconstructed by Herman Bolle, who took care of preserving the baroque character of the temple. Today in the church you can admire beautiful stained glass and frescoes by Marko Antonini.
