Voćni Trg (Fruit Square), officially Square Radić brothers, owes its colloquial name to the past agricultural market. Currently, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Split - famous for its monuments, shops and numerous pubs and entertainment venues. The most characteristic building of the Fruit Square is the octagonal Venetian tower - a remnant of 15th-century city fortifications. The square became famous as the location of the popular TV series "Saga's of Split".
At Plac Owocowy there is also the 17th-century Milesi Palace - one of the most prominent and best preserved Baroque Dalmatian buildings. A life-size figure of Marko Marulic (1450-1524) was placed in front of the palace - a Renaissance poet, called the father of Croatian literature.
The official patrons of the square, brothers Stjepan and Ante Radić, founded in 1904 a Croatian Peasant Party, opposing the Serb-dominated government of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Stjepan Radić was killed by bullets in 1928.
