Korzo Square
Local name: Korzo
Korzo Slavonski Brod is literally a promenade, exactly 300 meters long, reminiscent of a wide street square named after Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, which ends with a stone promenade just above the Sava River. It is one of the biggest attractions of Slavonski Brod and at the same time one of the largest city squares in Croatia. There are many historic buildings, galleries, cafes, nightclubs and shops.
Korzo is the center of cultural life and entertainment. The square is a place of many cultural events, including the celebrated April 18, birthday of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874-1938) - the most famous Croatian fairy tale writer, twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Her house is located at the end of the square, near the romantic promenade on the river Kej, as locals call Sava.
A short distance from Korzo is another popular tourist destination - Brodska Tvrđava, i.e. the Brodz Fortress, a baroque defensive structure used for commercial and cultural purposes.
