The Marco Polo House is a charming stone building with a tower. There is a museum dedicated to this great traveler. Inside there are wax figures depicting Marco Polo himself and people in some way associated with him. You can also see numerous items related to the events of his life. It is worth climbing the stairs to the aforementioned tower - it offers a beautiful view of the roofs of the old town and the Adriatic Sea.
The inhabitants of Korčula are sure that this great traveler was born here in 1254. Unfortunately, there is no evidence of this. What's more, the Venetians are convinced that Marco Polo was born in Venice. It is certain, however, that already an adult traveler, being the captain of a Venetian ship, fought the battle against Korčula with the Genoese. After her, he was taken prisoner, where he told one of his prisoners about his adventures. This is how the famous "Describing the World" was created.
