Krka Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery dedicated to Archangel Michael, located in the Krka National Park. Since it is still a place of worship, tourists can visit the Roman catacombs and the church only after buying tickets and under the supervision of a park employee. In the monastery part there is a souvenir shop selling devotional items, wine and other products made by priests.
It is worth paying attention to the bell tower in the Romanesque style, the chapel of St. Sawy built in the nineteenth century, as well as a new seminary building. The monastery has an extensive archive, a library, a collection of wooden icons, valuable cutlery and embroidery.
The oldest mention of the monastery comes from 1345. Whereas the church of St. The Archangel was erected in 1422 on the site of an earlier Gothic building. In the 16th century it was destroyed by Ottoman Turks, but it was quickly rebuilt. The monastery was also looted during the war in 1995, but the monks returned in 1998.
