Bellevue Beach is one of the most visited beaches of Dubrovnik, located next to the hotel of the same name. Its characteristic feature is natural sun protection: from the early afternoon hours a significant part of the beach is shaded due to the high rocks surrounding it. Bellevue is famous for the wild (amateur) water league league competitions that gather thousands of fans of this sport.
The beach offers favorable conditions both for people who like, above all, aging, as well as amateurs of active leisure. It has a marked guarded bathing beach, water slide, tennis court, diving center, beach equipment rentals, scooter and pedal boat rentals, public toilets, showers and a first aid point.
Amateur water polo games in Dubrovnik have a very long tradition, dating back to 1949. The current wild league tournament was organized for the first time in 1983 and has been taking place every summer since. Matches are played on Bellevue and several other beaches of Dubrovnik, and the finals are broadcast by Croatian television. In 2013, the team from outside Dubrovnik won the championship title for the first time in history.
