The Natural History Museum was founded in 1889 and was the first museum of its kind in the country. Currently, the collections are located in 15 rooms spread over 4 floors. On the ground floor there is a collection of minerals, which includes about 25% of the world's types of minerals. There are also temporary exhibitions.
The first floor is devoted to birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. It houses both palaeontological collections and taxidermies of contemporary animals. In total, you can see about 1,200 species of birds. On the second floor, there are four rooms entirely dedicated to mammals. There are 400 taxidermies here representing various species, incl. bears, wolves, bison, pumas and numerous smaller animals. The top floor has exhibitions on insects and other invertebrates and plants.
The museum is adapted to the needs of the disabled. The upper floors can be accessed via stairs or with a special, mobile platform.
