Church of Our Lady of the Chapel

Local name: Église Notre-Dame de la Chapelle

The temple, whose first mention dates back to the twelfth century, is a parish of the Polish Catholic community. A particularly important part of the church's equipment is the icon of the Mother of God of Częstochowa, but the organ and choir also deserve attention. Inside are the graves of famous personalities, including Pieter Bruegel.

The Notre-Dame de la Chapelle church was built on the site of a chapel built in 1134. It is an example of a mixture of Romanesque-Gothic style and pure Gothic, which is now rare. In later years, the building was rebuilt many times and subjected to numerous restaurants. In the seventeenth century, a baroque bell tower was added to the church.
