Jardin du Mont des Arts are beautiful gardens located on the famous Belgian Hill of Arts. They consist of colorful floral compositions, impressive stairs, cascading fountains and numerous alleys. As the gardens are located on a hill, they offer a picturesque panorama of Brussels, in particular the view of the Gothic tower of the town hall standing on the Grand Place.
Originally, the Hill of Arts housed a temporary garden designed by landscape architect Pierre Vacherot. It was created in 1910 at the request of King Leopold II. It quickly gained immense popularity among the city's residents, but it was demolished twenty years later. The current shape of Mont des Arts dates back to the 1950s.
Hill of Arts is not only famous for its beautiful gardens. There are also other attractions, including the Royal Museums of Fine Arts, the Toy Museum, the Brewery Museum and the Musical Instrument Museum. The whole is crowned with the equestrian statue of King Albert I.
