St. Anna Church

Local name: Annakirche

The church Anne in Vienna is originally a Gothic temple, owned by the order of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. One of the most important objects inside the church are the relics of Saint Anna. This is her right hand, exposed to public view every year on St. Anna, i.e. July 26. In addition, classical music concerts are held at the church several times a week.

In the church of St. Anna is worth paying attention to the frescoes decorating the ceiling, made by Daniel Gran in the first half of the 18th century. A wooden sculpture from 1510 depicting Saint. Anna, Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. It is attributed to Wit Stwosz.

The church Anna was built at the beginning of the 16th century in the place of a pre-existing chapel. It was originally Gothic, but in the 17th century the Jesuits (to whom the temple belonged at that time) rebuilt it in the Baroque style.
