Kärntner Straße is the most popular shopping street in Vienna, and its history dates back to 1257, since it was already an important trade route. The street stretches from St. Mark's Square. Stephen up to Karlsplatz. There are also numerous monuments next to it - including Vienna State Opera, Maltese Church or Palais Esterhazy.
Kärntner Straße is mainly known for its numerous exclusive stores, boutiques, jewelry and perfumery stores, such as Dior, Chanel, Swarovski, Fendi, Jimmy Choo and many other, but also popular chain stores, such as Zara.
Particularly noteworthy is the architecture of this place, because each house there is actually a separate, architectural work of art and an element of the city's history.
