Hochstrahlbrunnen is a fountain located on Schwarzenbergplatz. It was built of 365 small fountains that symbolically represent the number of days in a year. 7 slightly larger water jets reflect the days of the week, the next 12 show the months, the next 24 symbolize the hours, and one the largest for the whole year. At night it is illuminated by spotlights in various colors. The first illuminations were installed here as early as 1907.
The fountain was built in 1873 to mark the completion of the municipal water supply system. Anton Gabrielli, head of the company responsible for the project, personally financed the construction of the fountain.
