The Folklore Museum in Salzburg is based in the Monatsschlössl Hellbrunn castle. In it you can see exhibitions presenting the secular and religious traditions of the local population, their customs and traditions, as well as applied art.
The attention of visitors is attracted above all by intricately decorated and painted furniture. One of the biggest curiosities is traditional clothing, including dirndl dresses and lederhosen men's leather pants. In the summer, special temporary exhibitions on various subjects are organized here.
The museum in its current location has been operating for a very long time, since 1924. His headquarters, Monatsschlössl Hellbrunn, is a castle built by Archbishop Markus Sittikus. The castle owes its name to the record time in which it was built - its construction took only a month. The castle is surrounded by park and forest areas ideal for long walks.
