Gura Humorului is a small town that is somewhat overshadowed by the neighboring village of Mănăstirea Humorului, with the painted Bukovyna Dormition Monastery, entered on the UNESCO list.

The city was founded at the beginning of the 15th century and was primarily a trade and craft center. On its outskirts, a thriving Orthodox monastery developed, to which pilgrims would come. Today it is located in a separate village, but Gura Humorului is still mainly associated with this unusual place.

In 1831, over 500 Polish November insurgents interned by Austrian authorities came to the city. Some of them settled in Gura Humorului, others in the surrounding villages. To this day, many descendants of Polish settlers who make up the Polish community in Bukovina live here.

Attractions Gura Humorului here, first of all, the local traditional buildings and several sacred buildings. The contemporary Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary refers to the historic churches of Moldova and Bukovina. There are also the 19th century Orthodox Church of St. Konstantin and St. Helena and the Church of the Holy Trinity . Examples of folk art, crafts and home furnishings from the area have been collected at the Museum of Folk Traditions in Bukovina .
