National Railway Museum
The National Railway Museum presents the history of railways in Great Britain. It is the largest railway museum in the world. The collection includes over 100 locomotives and nearly 200 other types of railway vehicles. In addition, several hundred thousand exhibits related to railways were collected at exhibitions set up in three halls with an area of over 8 ha, including photographs, art works and machine parts.
The museum is part of the National Museum of Science and Industry. Although in the mid-nineteenth century, the first initiatives appeared to create them, NRM was only founded in 1975. It was opened by Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
The facility is constantly developing, organizing various types of celebrations and promotional campaigns. She also won many awards, for example in 2001 she was awarded the title of the European Museum of the Year Award.
