Two Temple Place

Two Temple Place London also known as Astor House is the London residence of the American lawyer, businessman and politician William Waldorf Astor, creator of the famous New York Hotel Waldorf Astoria. The building erected in 1895 has extremely rich furnishings, including above all a valuable collection of sculptural works of art. Since 2011, it has been a public gallery open to visitors.

The building designed by John Loughborough Pearson was built of Portland stone, the interior was lined with mahogany, cedar and ebony paneling, the floors are covered with floors made of geometrically arranged elements made of marble, jasper, porphyry and onyx. The house has hundreds of sculptural elements (statues, carvings, ornaments), whose authors were the greatest sculptors of the era - George James Frampton, William Silver Frith, Nathaniel Hitch and Thomas Nicholls.

The staircase and living room are illuminated by large stained glass windows made by the famous studio of John Richard Clayton and Alfred Bell.
